As a part of Destination Wedding University’s in-demand training course, Joan
Newton joined a select group that participated in a live, start-to-finish destination
wedding training at the historical luxury resort.

Yonkers, New York – While 2020 may go down as the Year of Cancelled Plans,
there’s one live event that took on the challenge: Can you plan and execute an
amazing destination wedding that maximizes romance, luxury, and safety in the
time of COVID?

For Destination Wedding University’s founder, Will Medina, the answer is a
resounding yes.
“In order for agents to be successful, they have to know how to adapt to change,”
he said. “So it’s important for them to have a hands-on (and socially-distant!)
training experience. We knew if we approached it thoughtfully, we could offer an
incredibly useful and one-of-a-kind experience for travel agents that would equip
them to serve their clients in a whole new way.”

With the Weddings and Celebrations Certification, DWU graduates get to see in
real time, from beginning to end, that a dream destination wedding is totally
possible in 2020 and beyond — and they get to practice creating that beautiful
experience for their clients.

Joan knew this was a unique opportunity to not only gain pivotal experience in a
changing field, but also to get exclusive connections with top-tier vendors at one
of the world’s most famous and breathtaking resorts.

To make sure everything went perfectly, Mr. Medina teamed up with Casa de
Campo in the Dominican Republic. Casa de Campo comes with a 50-year
reputation for catering to the world’s most discerning clientele, including a host of
celebrities.

The ambitious goal was to deliver an in-person training that showed travel agents
exactly how they can offer unforgettable, beautiful experiences for their clients
that seamlessly incorporate the highest safety standards and protocols.
In the past, Casa de Campo has been considered inaccessible to anyone but the
ultra-wealthy, but recently, the storied 7,000-acre property has been expanding its
reach, offering enticing group packages and celeb-style luxury at an approachable
price point.

For travel agents on the leading edge, getting certified at Casa de Campo allows
them to offer world-class extravagance and service to their clients from one of the
industry’s most trusted resorts.

Over the course of four intensive days, the DWU group of 20 completed nearly 40
hours of training, including business classes, excursions, and wedding event
experiences like cocktail parties and tasting menus. The training culminated with
a formal gala evening which included an actual wedding and reception.

“From the moment we arrived”, Ms. Newton said, “I was part of an actual
destination wedding weekend, immersed in every aspect of planning, and
understanding how to coordinate each moment to make it feel intimate and seem
effortless”.

In a year when so much has changed and so many weddings have been cancelled,
Ms Newton has an encouraging message to send to brides and grooms
everywhere: You can say yes to your dream destination wedding, and you can do
it in style.
